Finding Medical Answers Online

Monday, October 25th, 2010

Consider some alternatives to the norm when you are looking for medical answers online. Many top sites contain very general information about specific conditions, and content that may be similar or even identical. Consider some alternative sources to find answers:

• Google Books can be a good source to find more detailed and unique content (although some might be dated or limited to snippets).

• Search  for symptoms and experiences using the quoted text to get more specific information. For example, search for “Shingles” can bring results that are less descriptive than “my herpes zoster.”

Conclusion

There are many sources on the internet, but not all are created equal. Remember that it is very important that you speak with your doctor first, and not everything you read is true. Also, please consider participating in a web site to share experiences and information – the more information we have available to us, the more we increase our understanding.
